Sean Lyons is accused of stealing the identities of more than 100 people – some living, some dead – in order to file fraudulent tax returns, according to Sunrise police.

The stolen information was found after an officer approached Lyons about 3:50 am. Tuesday in the lot of the Isles at Lago Mar condominium, in the 12600 block of Vista Isles Drive.

Lyons, 26, told police he did not have his identification on him, but instead the officer later found more than 100 names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, addresses, email addresses and PIN numbers stored in a laptop, in medical records and in a book found in the car.

A handful of names were labeled “dead” or “deceased,” the report said.

Lyons told investigators that the information was obtained without the consent of the individuals and to “learn how to file fraudulent tax returns,” police said.

Also found in his white 1999 Ford: a loaded .38-caliber handgun on the floor near the front of the driver’s seat, a round of ammunition and hand-rolled marijuana cigarette that was in a cup holder, according to the report.

Lyons denied knowledge of the weapon and told the officer he “couldn’t remember if he had a gun in the car or not” when asked about anything illegal in his possession, the report said.

Even after the gun was found, Lyons maintained there was “nothing else in the vehicle.”

When police had the car inventoried prior to towing it, the laptop, medical records and a red book with the allegedly stolen identities were found.

Lyons was charged with fraud/attempt to use the ID of another person without consent, fraudulent possession of personal ID of deceased, carrying a concealed firearm and possession of cannabis.

He posted $16,100 bond early Wednesday, records show.
