Senator Marco Rubio of Florida introduces a Bill in the United States Senate requiring the Secretary of the Treasury to implement security measures in the electronic tax return filing process to prevent tax refund fraud from being perpetrated with electronic identity theft.  

CFEG is pleased to announce that a bill it has worked on and supports (S. 156), was introduced in the United States Senate on January 17, 2017. The bill is sponsored by Senator Marco Rubio [R-FL]. The bill requires the Secretary of the Treasury to implement security measures in the electronic tax return filing process to prevent tax refund fraud from being perpetrated with electronic identity theft.  The bill was referred to the Committee on Finance.
